Seth: Production Planning Coordinator and Gas Management System Engineer

The career of Production Planning Coordinator and Gas Management System Engineer Seth, is proof that hard work and a committed approach to professional development can lead to your dream job.

After graduating from the Papua New Guinea University of Technology with a Civil Engineering Degree, Seth joined ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG) in 2009 as a staff contractor before being offered a role as a construction engineer with the Development Support Team on the early works of the LNG Plant.

From here, Seth was accepted to the EMPNG Graduate Engineers program and embarked upon an extensive program of work experience, training and study to further develop his engineering career.

With a belief in seizing professional opportunities when they arise, Seth was eager to accept a new role with the Operations Technical team in 2011. The role required Seth to relocate to Melbourne for 18 months for on-the-job training as an integrity engineer.

“My training in Melbourne was inspiring, educational and rewarding. I’ve been fortunate enough to undertake other technical courses, coaching sessions and also attend ExxonMobil’s Corrosion Engineering School in Houston which was an invaluable experience,” said Seth.

In 2013, Seth returned to PNG and commenced working on the development and execution of programs to maintain the health of process piping and fixed mechanical equipment for both the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant and LNG Plant.

This role led to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Seth, where he was part of the team assisting the start-up of the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant.

“Being involved in the Project’s start-up activities was satisfying both personally and professionally. The experience prompted me to reflect on my accomplishments and the opportunities I had seized throughout my career.”

Seth is passionate about helping others reach their career goals and enjoys working for a company that promotes education and career development of men and women across PNG.

He relishes the opportunity to contribute to the economic development of his home country and looks forward to a long and bright career with EMPNG.

Seth is now on expat assignment with ExxonMobil Singapore.
