Respecting human rights
Respect for human rights is a core principal for ExxonMobil PNG.
Our approach to human rights is consistent with the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which outlines the roles of government and business with regard to human rights: the government’s duty to protect human rights, and business’ responsibility to respect them.
As a major business in Papua New Guinea, we believe we have an important role to play in promoting respect for human rights in PNG. We believe that our presence can and should have a positive influence on the treatment of people in communities where we operate.
We comply with all applicable laws and regulations and seek to work with suppliers and business partners who share our commitment to human rights.
Human rights violations are unacceptable and we condemn them in the strongest sense.
