Teacher house delivery

Head teachers at Papa Elementary, Lealea, Boera and Porebada Primary Schools are enjoying the benefits of modern and secure onsite accommodation thanks to ExxonMobil PNG, operator of the PNG LNG Project.

In early 2016, ExxonMobil PNG signed community agreements with the local primary schools and Central Provincial Government to construct four new teacher houses.

By August of the same year, head teachers and their families were in residence and enjoying their contemporary and safe homes.

Each new house comes with four bedrooms, a 3000 litre water tank, water pump and power supply.

Improving the quality of living for teachers provides a conducive environment for successful teaching and learning outcome which is an enabler to better education for children.

The Central Province Education Division says this initiative will help to foster education in the four villages and contribute to improving the academic performance of local students.

ExxonMobil PNG has provided support to schools in PNG LNG Project areas since 2010 and understands how important education is to the development of the next generation of PNG leaders.

Education gives children the opportunity for the best possible future and is key to driving social and economic development. Teachers play a critical role in this and ExxonMobil PNG believes they deserve the support from the local community as they undertake this sometimes challenging job.
