Enterprise Center and Capacity-Building Programs

The PNG LNG Project has signed a 5-year service agreement with the Institute of Banking & Business Management (IBBM) Corporate Training for the establishing and management of an Enterprise Center in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, which will help national businesses achieve global standards of management.

“The engagement and development of PNG businesses is an important aspect of the PNG LNG Project’s National Content Plan and the Oil and Gas Act,” Mr Peter Graham, Esso Highlands Limited Managing Director, said.

The Enterprise Center will be operated and managed by the IBBM. Its primary functions are:

Facilitating communication between national suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors by:

  • Communicating business opportunities
  • Maintaining a PNG Supplier Database
  • Facilitating access to Project information

Building capacities of national companies by:

  • Organizing seminars and business training plan
  • Providing business improvement services such as business assessment, gap analysis, consulting and advisory services

The Enterprise Center will act as an independent institution and will be located within the IBBM premises in Port Moresby. The IBBM is the longest established private sector training organization in PNG and is recognized as the country’s premier provider of pragmatic, cost-effective training in banking, business and finance management skills.

The Enterprise Center Services are accessible to PNG companies registered in the PNG Supplier Database accessible at www.pnglng.com.

1. ENTERPRISE CENTER TRAINING PROGRAM
The Enterprise Center provides training courses to PNG companies to enable them to perform at an optimum level in their dealings with the PNG LNG Project.

2. BUSINESS ASSESSMENT SERVICES

The Enterprise Center has in place a business assessment method and team to evaluate PNG companies in terms of business structure, operations, systems and processes to achieve the objective of identifying skills gaps and provide relevant capacity building programs.

Evaluations are conducted on the demand of the LNG PNG Project by Business Development Specialists (BDS) as per a pre-defined process, across key elements of business management.

 

3. BUSINESS ADVISORY - CONSULTING SERVICES

The Enterprise Center will provide assessed PNG companies with business advisory and consulting services to further capacitate their business operations so that they can perform at an optimum level in their dealings with the PNG LNG Project.

The business advisory and consulting services will cover identified deficiencies in the areas of administration, business operations, accounting, Human Resource Management (HRM), personnel and access to finance. The objective is to ensure that those PNG companies identified and selected to work with the PNG LNG Project must perform sustainable businesses above a minimum standard.

Further to this service PNG Companies may be re-assessed.

 

4. BUSINESS MENTORING SERVICES

The Enterprise Center will provide assessed PNG companies with business with mentoring services on company site.

The mentoring services will cover identified deficiencies in the areas of administration, business operations, accounting, HRM and personnel.

Further to this service PNG Companies may be re-assessed.

 

5. INFORMATION CENTRE

The Enterprise Center will provide to PNG Companies facilities to enhance communication about the PNG LNG Project within the business community. The facilities are:

  • Office space and work stations, fully equipped
  • Meeting Rooms available to facilitate communication between PNG selected companies and PNG LNG Contractors or Sub-contractors
  • Information Center dedicated to the communication on PNG LNG Project and business opportunities
  • Internet, phones and printing and copy room

The objective is to establish and enhance communication between PNG LNG Project stakeholders.
